NOS Primavera Sound returns from 6 to 8 June 2019

EARLY BIRDS now available

There are editions that mark a before and after in a festival, and the seventh one of NOS Primavera Sound in Porto will be remembered as one of them. Between the grounds of Parque da Cidade and the Fatboy Slim concert in downtown Porto, the festival surpassed for the first time the 100.000 visitor mark with an overwhelming artistic program led by Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds, Lorde, A$AP Rocky, Tyler, The Creator, The War on Drugs, Fever Ray and Jamie XX, among others. There is no doubt that the Portuguese festival has consolidated the foundations that make it one of the leading events in Europe.

With an average of 30.000 people in each of the three days in Parque da Cidade, in addition to the approximately 30.000 who gathered in front of the Oporto City Hall in the Fatboy Slim concert, NOS Primavera Sound received people from over 60 countries that celebrated the stylistic scope of the festival. Lorde's cathartic show, the explosion of hip-hop stars such as A$AP Rocky, Vince Staples and Tyler, The Creator, and Jamie XX's journey to the depths of electronic music marked the first two days. Today, the consecration of this last night with be made with Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds and their overwhelming performance, the nonconformist Arca, Nils Frahm's electronic circuit and the journey to infinity with The War on Drugs. Most of the names will be distributed between the two main stages of the festival, the NOS Stage and the new SEAT Stage.

Another of the most notorious novelties of this seventh edition was the new Primavera Bits stage, located in a pavilion like an industrial warehouse. Decorated with plants and equipped with a sound system by Bowers & Wilkins the space was a meeting point for all electronic music devotees who enthusiastically received the sets of Gerd Janson, Motor City Drum Ensemble, Levon Vincent and Marcel Dettmann. Today, Talaboman (John Talabot and Axel Boman) and Denis Sulta mark the farewell in this new stage.

In addition to the headliners, the hip-hop and the electronic music, NOS Primavera Sound 2018 enshrines another edition of unequaled eclecticism, risk and musical uniqueness. Parque da Cidade was the ideal setting for the folk giant Father John Misty, the addictive and intriguing Fever Ray, Rhye's evocative rhythms, the hypnotic Four Tet and Floating Points, Ibeyi's irresistible blend, Thundercat’s mied style and the delicacy of Grizzly Bear. As always, the festival looks to the future with eyes fixed on Mavi Phoenix, Yellow Days, Starcrawler, Superorganism, Mattiel, Ezra Furman, Zeal & Ardor or Idles and on national music performance with artists such as Moullinex, Black Bombaim, Fogo Fogo or Luís Severo. Also new to this edition was the Radio Primavera Sound stage at SEAT Village, a space well received by all those who wanted to dance to the sound of indie and pop.

Year after year, Parque da Cidade becomes in this days a stage of excellence for music. The growth and reorganization of the site has proved to be a good bet with the new areas to allow even more comfort and to give everyone a unique experience. For this continued and sustained growth, the festival has the support of all its partners and sponsors, such as NOS and the Oporto City Council.

NOS Primavera Sound returns to Parque da Cidade from June 6 to 8, 2019. See you next year!
